The Korean Society for Veterinary Science (KSVS) was born in Pusan through the inaugural general meeting by 87 Korean veterinarians in 1957. Dr. Yong Pil Kim was elected as the first president in the meeting. Two vice president, 20 board members and 2 auditors were also elected in the meeting. Members were tremendously increased from 87 members in the inaugural meeting to 1,200 individual and 120 collective members, now.

Annual meeting of our society was held in the fall every year after the first meeting. From 1978, the meeting has been held biannually ; symposium in the spring and annual meeting in the fall.

Our official journal, Korean Journal of Veterinary Research, was started from 1961 as the first issue. After the first issue, the journal was published biannually until 1988, and then, quarterly until now. Abstracts of the articles is published in CAB/Index Veterinarius/Index Medicus/Medline.

We also publish the journal of Veterinary Science, an English Version, as an arena for worldwide Veterinary Scientists.
